History of the cottage: Tranquility cottage was built from local stone in 1902 for workers building the railway in Donegal. In 1905 the Gallagher family bought the cottage for £2 and it became the family home for two adults and 10 children! The cottage has remained in the family for the past 100 years. About Dungloe: Dungloe is the largest town in the “Rosses”, (the land of over 100 lakes). The “Mary From Dungloe International Festival” is held here every year and has made the town of Dungloe famous throughout the world. The town boasts many amenities and services including a leisure centre, tennis courts, pitch & putt, quality hotels & restaurants, a caravan site, a tourist office, and is well known for its excellent angling facilities. About Burtonport: Burtonport is a small fishing village situated in the heart of the Rosses and the gateway to the islands of Arranmore, Rutland and Inishfree.
