Description :Downstairs, is the entrance hall, leading to a large, spacious L shaped room shared by the kitchen on one wing and the lounge on the other. There is a separate toilet and basin off the hallway. The kitchen is fully fitted, and electricity, central heating, bed linen and towels are all included.

Situated to the rear of Kealeys Bar in a secluded sun filled yard, and being off the main road, the holiday home is quiet, peaceful and private. There is a service road to the rear providing access and secure parking from the street. In the yard, a pleasant decked patio area is provided for relaxing or dining al-fresco in good weather. The deck is furnished with a number of picnic style tables and benches, and decorated with a variety of potted foliage, which adds colour and softens the straight lines of the surrounding structures.

The holiday home is well positioned in the centre of Greencastle, making it very convenient to all the local amenities. Shops, restaurants and pubs, the shorefront and harbour area are all within a two minute walk.

Surroundings:

If you enjoy touring, there is probably not a better location as a touring base for exploring the northern part of Ireland, especially as you are so close to the ferry which operates a regular daily service across the Foyle to Magilligan Point, allowing easy access to Northern Ireland and all of its scenic attractions as well. A thirty minute drive across the Inishowen Peninsula to Buncrana will give you access to the other ferry service across Lough Swilly to Rathmullen, where you can continue your tour into west Donegal. (This service only operates in the summer).

A five minute drive will get you to three fine sandy beaches just to the north of the town. The favourite is the Big White Bay next to the lighthouse at Stroove. The others are Silver Strand and Sweet Nellies, just beyond the golf course. One of the finest beaches is Benone Strand, just on the other side of Lough Foyle, but you will have to take the ferry to get there. Other beaches worth a visit are at Kinnegoe Bay and Culdaff.

Greencastle has a fine golf course just north of the town, with the entrance only a mile away. Keen golfers may also want to visit Ballyliffin, Redcastle, Buncrana or Culdaff, in Derry, all within 30 minutes drive time.

While in Greencastle, visit the excellent Maritime Museum and Planetarium, explore the ruins of the old Norman castle, after which the town is named, - from the type of green stone used in its construction. There is an excellent sign posted shore walk between Greencastle and Moville.

Wining and dining:

Eating out is not a problem, and a few venues spring to mind. The Drunken Duck, the Cafe Cove, and the well known Kealys Seafood Bar. A ten minute drive down to Moville will offer even more culinary variety. You may also try the local fish and chip shop, next door, serving the traditional fresh fish and chips and other take-aways.

We should not forget to mention Kealeys Bar, on the same premises. Enjoy a pint of the finest in this family owned, maritime themed traditional pub, which has passed down through three generations. The bar is immaculate, clean and tidy. The woodwork has that patina of age that only a genuine old bar can reflect, - which none of the modern pre-fabricated packaged Irish pubs can copy.
